The 2017 City of Charm will be held in the newly upgraded complex. Quantum system, new start blocks, scoreboard, touch pads both ends for splits. new surrounds. We can’t wait!

 

City of Charm is a distance meet held on the last weekend in November each year. Traditionally approximately 400 swimmers come from around 36 competing clubs from the Gold Coast to Rockhampton and out West. It is ideally situated in the lead up to  Queensland State Age Championships.

158 events are swum with the 1500m, 800m events on the Friday Night and then a full program across Saturday and Sunday finishing up usually around 1pm on Sunday.

Norville Park Pool is the venue used to host City of Charm. It is located on Enterprise St, Bundaberg and has plenty of room for the crowds. Visitors are welcomed with first class service provided by a willing band of volunteer helpers. The facilities include an Olympic 50m pool with fully automatic timing. A 25m pool and a toddler pool set in 5 acres of well kept grounds. The fantastic Fairymead caterers offer the best food that compliments items for sale in the kiosk.

City of Charm Mercantile Medley Relay is held each year with clubs able to nominate two teams. The winning team is the one who swims closest to their winning time. Each team in the final wins money from $30 to $200. Last year’s winner was .02 off their nominating time.

Features of the meet include

Team Points Prizes: Highest team points $1,000; 2nd Highest $500, Pro rata team points (points divied by team number) $200;

  • 50m sprint dash for cash events
  • Fully automatic timing
  • Ideal qualifying opportunities for swimmers
  • 50m to 1500m events
  • Gifts as well as medals for all 200m, 400m, 800m & 1500m winners
  • Age Champions – 1st & 2nd age Champions
  • Swimmer of the Meet – Swimmer breaking the longest standing record
  • Random Draws
  • The City of Charm Mercantile Relay $1040.00 in prize money
